Dawn whispers ancient secrets at St Paul's Gate. Medieval walls have guarded Rhodes' northeastern corner for centuries, and here I found myself in those tender moments before sunrise, when history feels closest.


The solitude of these early hours is never quite complete in Greece. As if on cue, a cat - my unexpected companion - appeared on the weathered stone wall. These curious Greek friends have become faithful assistants during my pre-dawn excursions, silent guardians of these timeless moments.


Golden light transformed the medieval stonework into a canvas of warm hues. The cat settled into nature's spotlight, basking in the contre-jour glow that photographers dream of. We shared a moment of pure tranquility - the cat content in its sunlit perch, while I stood in quiet appreciation of this unscripted scene.


Like countless others who have passed through this historic gateway over centuries, both cat and photographer found ourselves united in simple reverence of a new day dawning over Rhodes. Some moments need no explanation - they simply invite us to pause and breathe in their beauty.

Chasing Odysseus at Dawn (And Nearly Swimming With My Camera) Where do ancient legends meet perfect light? At Mouse Island in Corfu, where Homer claims that Odysseus's ship was transformed by Poseidon's wrath into the emerald rock we see today. I'd already shot this mythological place from distant cliffs at dusk, but something called me closer. I wanted intimacy with this legendary location - to capture Panagia Vlacherna church in perfect morning light.
